What's the right style of jeans for you? Slim? Straight? Relax. We've got the fit.
Court the skinny
Stretchable, skinny jeans should be your go-to option if you are a biker. This not only saves your thighs from the bruises caused by long hours on the bike but is also comfortable. "Somebody who is athletic can carry off this look," says Mumbai-based designer Nachiket Barve. Remember to wear something with a hint of volume, maybe a bomber jacket. Avoid a fitted t-shirt for sure, a head to toe fitted look is not cool at all," advises Barve.

Master the classics
"A straight classic fit complements most body types. I have seen a straight fit on people who have a heavy torso and also on those who don't," says celebrity stylist Niharika Khan. A classic straight fit is cut loose throughout the jeans and will allow your legs to breathe. Beware: The slightly loose fit below the knee can result in some flare. Feel free to roll up the cuff a bit, you don't want to be sporting bell bottoms.

Denim sweatpants or joggers that come with drawstrings aren't just for loafing around the house. Pair them up with a simple cotton T shirt and you can meet your girl at the coffee shop round the corner. Remember: Don't ever attempt to work out in them. They are the perfect pants for a light stroll.

Distress isn't bad
Even if you have a desk job, these distressed jeans will make you look like you have an adventurous streak in you. "Distressed looks like as if you've been through a hurricane. The rule is that it should be very artfully distressed. Any tear or two around the thighs is not cool, you don't want unruly hair poking out of the tattered parts," says Barve. Get a pair that has subtle pocket tears and fading that looks like you've lived in them. Keep your look simple with a sweatshirt or smarten it up with a shirt.

Rise above expectations
The height of your waistline should be determined by your age as well as the length of your torso-the longer your torso the higher the rise. Aim for a pair of midrise jeans. Lose the belt, which just makes you look bulkier. "Indian Men can carry off mid-rise, below the belly well," says Barve. If you have a paunch let go of the belt. This will only accentuate your rotund belly. Opt for darker denims that are timeless and dressier than medium or lighter washes. Make your casual look modern by mixing up different fabrics and patterns. Think bolder checks, brighter colours or double denim.
